High on the western slope of the Eola-Amity Hills sits the 18-acre Sojeau Vineyard. Planted to Pinot Noir and Chardonnay by Denny and Thelma Peseau in 2007 on a former cherry orchard. The vineyard ranges from 500 to 680 feet in elevation with a southwest exposure directly into the Van Duzer Corridor. We work with the classic Willamette Valley clones of Pommard and Wädenswil from this site, which are grown in volcanic soils and farmed organically. Its elevation and exposure to the cooling coastal winds make Sojeau an especially compelling site for Eola-Amity Hills Pinot Noir.
Aromas of allspice, maraschino, pressed flower petals, and black plum lead into flavors of red currant, boysenberry, and savory herbs. The palate is graceful yet concentrated, with a pronounced stoniness and finely etched tannins providing shape and length. A cool, lavender perfume lingers through the clean, composed finish.
