Above the towns of Yamhill and Carlton grows the stunning 11-acre Carlton Hill Vineyard. Planted in 1999, this vineyard is planted with a pure eastern sun exposure, somewhat noteworthy for Willamette Valley Pinot Noir. We work with the classic Willamette Valley clones of Pommard and Wädenswil from this site, and it always produces a distinctively superlative Yamhill-Carlton Pinot Noir.
Aromas of mulling spice, Morello cherry, sandalwood, and lead into flavors of red plum, cranberry, and savory cherry. Broad and supple through the middle, the wine is sharpened by a salinity coupled with hints of citrus peel. Fine tannins and a lifted purple-flowers note carry the finish.
